WELCOME TO THE JAPAN HOUR SHOW :) いらっしゃいませ
I am your host, the ultimate translator, Samuel :DD
We started the day with our last breakfast at the Toyoko Hotel in Tokyo. While gobbling down our breakfast, we observed that the hotel receptionists that have been serving us for the past 2 days actually turned into a repair man! They were fixing the air conditioner in the hotel! WOW! This was definitely something new as none of us has ever seen before hotel receptionis taking more than one role. Prior to that, they were also picking up the rubbish outside the hotel. After our discussion, we believed that this is due to the fact that Japanese society trust one another to do their job well. A singaporean society, as compared to a Japanese one, obviously lack the trust! Well, the receptionist were also wearing a special pull over. They can simply remove their pull over and change into their receptionist uniform when they finish their job. This again emphasise the importance of image in the Japanese society! Well, who wouldn't be concerned about their image when they are next to the handsome host me? (I am kidding hahahaha)
After everyone was full and happy, we set off for our final tourist attraction in Tokyo- the Nissi Cup Ramen Museum!
LET'S GO!
Hmmmm..... the map looks really complicated. But with 2 prince charming, our princess Felicia managed to find the right way ahead!
Well, all ready to board the train! Oh wait... we managed to capture this slightly helpless smile of Ning Xuan! Sure tell us how hard it was to brave the train with our luggage!
-NEW CHALLENGE DETECTED- we need to line up for the trains with our luggage?!!!?? Oh well, bring it on!
After braving through the 40 minutes journey! We finally arrived at Sakuragichou of Yokohama! We all agreed upon how hard it is to carry our luggage and travel at the same time! Therefore, we will be depositing our luggage in the lockers in the train station. The lockers are really really huge(and high tech)! Well, Singapore really need to get one too! OH and wait, the locker's system is available in many language? Cool, let's try the English one....
Operating the high tech locker!
"Please select your DESIRED locker" "Is this your DESIRED locker?" OMG the English system's computer generated voice just brought the entire crew of us laughing. We were so amused by it that we went around trying to figure out if the other languages were just as entertaining, but sadly, none other languages brought us the joy that the English one did.
With that we can finally move on to our destination! The scenery at sakuragichou is superb! There was a great balance between the metropolitan city and the gentle nature!
The ferris wheel look absolutely delicious. A quick bite then!
BUT WAIT... They stopped me again ): Well, look like they wanted to take a group photo with the wheel. Well maybe I will eat it next time ):
After a really loooooooonnnnggg but scenic walk, we finally arrived at our desired location! THE NISSI CUP MUSEUM!
-THREAT TO THE WALLET DETECTED- UH OH We need to pay money to go in the museum!? Okay expected, but this is not good news to our wallet...
As the wallet digger monster crept closer to us, we shivered and trembled as we await for the inevitable fate...
BUT WAIT, THE MR YEO'S NAME CARD SUPER HERO APPEARED! Mr Yeo flashed his name card, and we were saved of our 5000 yen entry fee! Looked like the museum encourages school tour and if we can identify ourselves as a school, we can enter free of charge! All of us, and our wallet, thanked the 5000 yen name card and we left for the museum!
In the museum, we learnt about the history of cup ramen, how the inventor came up with it and how big it had became! There was a very strong emphasis of innovation and creativity in the museum. The museum is filled with loads of children with their parents. But nevetheless, it was clear that they wanted to encourage the children to be the next Ando (person who invented cup noodle). There were many interactive games that encourage children to think and dream! We believe that this form of education targeted at the children is perhaps the driving force why Japan is crowned as the country of innovation! The fact that the museum is free of charge to student is also perhaps to encourage student to visit the museum!
Great booklet with loads of info, along with a free ticket that we got because we are students!
In front of the Singapore ramen exhibition! Surprised that there are so many types cup noodles in Singapore?
The founder and the teacher
The hut where the noodles were borned
Well, after touring the museum, all of our stomach became ペコペコ and we definitely were itching for some noodles! So we headed to the noodle world on the 4th floor and began to fill our stomach! There were 8 booths with 8 different kind of noodles in the world and here are some of them!
*ALERT, ALERT, ALERT, ALERT* SOMETHING HORRIBLE IS ABOUT TO HAPPEN. PLEASE WATCH AT YOUR OWN SAFETY
WE LOST A BAGGAGE! In our trip we actually lost an important baggage containing the souvenirs for the japanese students!
OH NOOOOO! TIME TO HEAD TO THE STATION MASTER!
Through our conversation, we can see that the station master genuinely wanted to help us. When we told the worker about the missing bag, they immediately checked the train schedule to see where the train is at now so as to be able to inform the station master. Moreover, when she could not contact the station master, she took out the train driver contact list to contact to the train driver. This is something you definitely cant see in singapore!
We have no choice but to wait till 5pm to be informed if our baggage has been found.....
Luckily, we did manage to claim it back. BUT our schedule was pushed back by 4 hours....
Nevertheless, the Shin-Kansen is still always something worth looking forward to! With a hole in our wallet, we proudly bought our bento set to eat on the train and begin our journey to osaka!
As the train slowly departs for Shin-Osaka, the food-deprived us began to enjoy our train bento set! The Japanese seriously put in a lot of effort in arranging this!
Spaghetti!
Mee Goreng!
Cold noodle from Korea
Laksa!
After filling up our stomach! We headed back to station to get to Shin-Yokohama station to take Shin-Kansen to Shin-Osaka! BUT....*ALERT, ALERT, ALERT, ALERT* SOMETHING HORRIBLE IS ABOUT TO HAPPEN. PLEASE WATCH AT YOUR OWN SAFETY

She was also very polite when she tell us to wait till 5pm for them to confirm whether the baggage is found. She was very assuring and affirmed us that we would be able to get to our final destination as the last train to Shin-Osaka is at 8!
We manage to observe 2 blind men using the Braille code on the floor during our wait in the station. The blind men did not have much problem getting to the platform, because the train station was designed perfectly for the handicapped. This just show us how Japan is an inclusive society!

Finally, we reached the station (Tears of joy T.T)
The train arrived! Look sleet and fast huh :D
As the train slowly departs for Shin-Osaka, the food-deprived us began to enjoy our train bento set! The Japanese seriously put in a lot of effort in arranging this!
Looks really good right?
Taste pretty good too!
Enjoying our meal
Ononononommm DELICIOUS HORHHHHH :D
Complaint from the host: should have bought two...
What I bought was actually this! Hahahah taste great! Wanted double portion but did not manage to steal from anyone );
After our eventful and hectic day we finally managed to reach Shin-Osaka! To celebrate our reach-osaka-after-the-sky-turn-dark-and-baggage-found, we went to the local Mac to eat some really wonderful ice cream! >:)
Do not be surprised! It is not the singapore kind of vanilla cone. Less sweet but just as delicious!
With that we finally end this hectic day full of food, travelling and handsome young host(okay i am joking about this).
Our japan hour special is now coming to an end! We hope you would tune in to hear more as we explore the Osaka area!
